How it works

STEP 01

Create the album

Add a name, the date, and a cover. Paid plans give you a custom link like wed.photo/sams-30th that is easy to read and type.

STEP 02

Print the QR code

Download the code and add it to a card or sign. Put it at the gift table, the food table, and on each table.

STEP 03

Guests scan and upload

Guests scan with their phone camera and upload photos from the browser. No app, no account.

STEP 04

Download everything

After the party, download every original file as one ZIP and keep a backup.

Where to put the QR code at a birthday party

Put it where guests stop and have a free hand. One code by the door is usually not enough, because people walk past a sign on the way in and forget it once the party starts.

  • The gift or card table, because every guest walks past it.
  • The food and drinks table, where people wait in line.
  • Each dining table, if there is seated dining.
  • The TV, if you run a slideshow, so the code stays on screen all night.
  • The invitation or the party group chat, so guests can add photos from before and after the party.
  • A short backup link under every code, such as wed.photo/sams-30th, for anyone whose camera won't focus.

What size to print a birthday QR code

No single size works everywhere. Whether a code scans depends on how far away the guest is, the lighting, the contrast, and how much empty space surrounds the code. Print a proof and test it in the real spot. Dark on light scans best.

  • Table card: test it from a seated guest's normal phone distance.
  • Welcome sign: test it from where guests can stand without blocking the entrance.
  • Sticker: use a flat surface so the code does not wrap around an edge.
  • Screen: test it from the closest spot people will actually watch from, and keep paper cards out as well.

Is a QR photo album safe for a kids' party?

It is safe enough for most parties if you know how access works. The album is not listed or indexed by search engines, but it is not password protected. Anyone with the link or QR code can view it, including anyone a guest forwards it to. Anyone who can view a photo can also save it, so removing a photo later does not pull back copies already downloaded.

  • Share the code only at the party and with invited families, not on public social media.
  • Ask parents not to forward the link if that matters to you.
  • Check uploads during and after the party. You can remove any photo or video at any time and it disappears for guests right away. Approving uploads before they appear is not available yet.
  • Lock the album after the party so no new uploads come in.

Birthday photo sharing ideas by age

The setup is the same at every age. What changes is who takes the photos and where the code should go.

  • 1st birthday: most photos come from grandparents and relatives, so put the QR code on the invitation and send the link to family who can't attend.
  • Kids' parties: parents take the photos, so put a card where they wait at drop-off and pick-up.
  • 18th and 21st: guests film more than they photograph, so choose a plan with video and put the code on the TV.
  • 30th, 40th, and 50th: speeches and a mix of friends who don't know each other make a live slideshow worth it, and a custom link makes the album easy to find later.
  • Surprise parties: send the link to guests in advance so they capture the reveal, and print the QR code for after it.
FAQ

How do I collect photos from birthday party guests?

Create a shared album, print its QR code, and place it at the gift table, the food table, and on each table. Guests scan with their phone camera and upload in the browser. After the party, download everything as a ZIP.

Do guests need an app or an account?

No. The QR code opens the album in Safari or Chrome and guests upload from there. They do not install anything, create an account, or set a password.

How much does it cost?

The free trial covers 50 photos for 7 days, photos only. Keepsake is $39 one-time for unlimited photos and 6 months of storage. Celebration is $68 one-time and adds video uploads, TV slideshow mode, and 12 months of storage. Signature is $99 one-time with 24 months of storage.

Can guests upload videos?

Yes, on the Celebration and Signature plans. The free trial and Keepsake plan take photos only.

Can we show the photos live on a TV?

Yes. On Celebration and Signature, TV mode plays the album as a full-screen slideshow, new uploads appear as guests add them, and the QR code stays on screen so more people join in.

Do iPhone and Android photos both work?

Yes. wed.photo accepts JPG, PNG, WEBP, and HEIC photos plus MP4 and MOV videos. iPhone HEIC photos and Live Photos upload without conversion.

How long do the photos stay?

7 days on the free trial, 6 months on Keepsake, 12 months on Celebration, and 24 months on Signature. You can extend storage at any time, and you get a reminder before it ends. Download a backup ZIP after the party either way.
