Live event slideshow: guest photos on the big screen

A live event slideshow puts the photos your guests take on a TV or projector while the event is still going. With wed.photo, guests scan a QR code and upload from their phone browser, and TV mode shows each new photo on screen with the QR code in the corner so more people join in. It works for birthdays, company parties, conferences, and weddings, and it is included on the Celebration ($68) and Signature ($99) plans.

✓ No app or account for guests
✓ Upload QR code shown on screen
✓ Works with HDMI or screen mirroring
✓ Photos and muted videos in the rotation

TV showing a live slideshow of guest photos with a QR code to upload
Guests see their own photos on the screen a few moments after they upload, which is the best reminder for everyone else to scan.
The join QR code stays in the top-left corner of the slideshow, so the screen recruits uploaders all night.
Nobody installs an app or makes an account. The QR code opens the upload page in Safari or Chrome.
Videos play in the rotation too, muted, so speeches and dance clips show up next to photos.
After the event, the same album keeps every file, and you can download it all at full resolution as one ZIP.

How it works

STEP 01

Open the public album

In your host album, choose View public, then choose TV mode in the cover area. On small screens the button may just say TV. The slideshow opens in a new browser tab.

STEP 02

Show the TV button if it is hidden

If you can't see TV mode, go to the host album's Settings, find TV slideshow, and turn on the TV button. Then reopen the public page.

STEP 03

Connect the screen

Connect a laptop to the TV or projector with HDMI, or use your device's screen mirroring, and pick the matching input on the TV. If you extend your display, drag the slideshow window onto the TV first.

STEP 04

Go fullscreen

Choose Enter fullscreen, the expand icon at the top-right of the slideshow. Press Escape to leave. If it won't enter fullscreen, use the browser's own fullscreen command.

STEP 05

Keep it running

Photos change roughly every five seconds and new uploads join the rotation once they finish processing. Keep the device plugged in, awake, and online for the whole event.

What you need for a live photo slideshow

You need a screen, one device with a web browser to drive it, and a steady internet connection. You don't need special hardware or software.

  • A TV, monitor, or projector. Bigger is better in a room where people are standing and talking.
  • A laptop with an HDMI port or adapter, or a phone or tablet that can mirror to the screen.
  • Internet for the slideshow device. Venue Wi-Fi works, and a phone hotspot is a good backup.
  • A charger. The device has to stay plugged in and awake for hours.
  • At least one processed photo in the album before you start, so the screen isn't blank.

Live slideshow ideas by event

The setup is the same everywhere. What changes is where the screen goes and what you ask guests to shoot.

  • Birthday parties: put the screen near the cake table so the room sees the candles moment again a minute later. See birthday party photo sharing for the full party setup.
  • Company parties and conferences: run the slideshow between speakers, during dinner, or at the awards, and put the QR on a slide too. See corporate event photo sharing for badges, slides, and sponsor recaps.
  • Wedding receptions: a screen by the dance floor or the bar works best. The live wedding slideshow page covers the wedding version.
  • Graduations and family reunions: older relatives who won't upload still love watching. Ask the younger guests to scan and add photos for them.

Tips to get more guests uploading

Most guests upload once they see the screen and are told it's theirs to fill. Make the QR easy to find and say it out loud once.

  • Place the screen where people already gather: the bar, the food, the dance floor, or the stage. Avoid a corner nobody walks past.
  • Have the host, DJ, or MC say one line early: "Scan the code on the screen and your photos will show up up here."
  • Put the same QR on table cards or a sign, with the short album link printed underneath for phones that won't scan.
  • Turn on Do Not Disturb on the slideshow device so notifications and pop-ups don't land on the big screen.
  • Test the whole thing before guests arrive: upload a photo from your phone and watch it appear.

What the slideshow doesn't do yet

TV mode is built to run on its own with no settings to manage. That keeps it simple, but it also means a few things aren't there yet.

  • No speed control. Photos advance about every five seconds.
  • No music. Videos play muted, so play music through the venue's sound system instead.
  • No approving photos before they appear. That is coming soon. Today the host can delete any photo at any time, and it disappears for everyone. Keep the host's phone handy, or ask one person to keep an eye on the album during the event.
  • The album isn't password protected. Anyone with the link or QR code can view and upload, including people a link gets forwarded to.

Which plan includes TV mode

TV mode is on Celebration and Signature. The Free Trial and Keepsake show an upgrade prompt instead of the slideshow. Every plan is a one-time payment per album, not a subscription.

  • Free Trial: $0, 50 photos for 7 days. No TV mode.
  • Keepsake: $39 one time. Photos only, no TV mode.
  • Celebration: $68 one time, 12 months of storage. Includes TV mode and video uploads.
  • Signature: $99 one time, 24 months of storage. Includes TV mode and video uploads.
FAQ

Do guests need an app to add photos to the slideshow?

No. Guests scan the QR code with their phone camera and upload in the browser. They don't install an app or create an account.

What equipment do I need?

A TV, monitor, or projector, a laptop or other device with a web browser connected by HDMI or screen mirroring, and an internet connection. Keep the device plugged in and awake for the whole event.

Can I stop an inappropriate photo from showing?
